Windows Recovery Environment
Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is used primarily to help save or salvage your Windows operating system. It is available on the Windows 8, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 DVD's and was a replacement for the Windows XP and 2000 recovery console. |
The following features are available in WinRE:
Note - Although WinRE is run from the install DVD of 8, Vista, 7 or server 2008, it can be installed on some OEM computers through the F8 menu on boot.

Command Prompt - used to give you access to files and your system via the command-line
