DRIVERS - Refresh driver

In device manager highlight the device you want to reinstall, ((Communications port COM 2 in this example) the device you want to refresh may not be working or have an exclamation mark beside it) select remove and confirm removal by clicking ok, this device will then be gone from device manager.

You can then reinstall the driver by using the Add new Hardware Wizard.

Otherwise you will end up with the Hardware Wizard. Double click on Icon for following menu, then click on next.

Click “Next”, this may remain on screen for a few minutes.

New Hardware will be found, on this occasion a Communication Port.

Windows has it’s own driver and has located it. At this time if need be, you could specify the item as a different device or install a different driver, allowing you to configure as you wish. Otherwise allow windows to finish installing it by clicking next and finish.

Driver install in complete and will once again be listed in device manager.
