For this I will show you the install for Microsoft Windows 2000. 

  • Now follow the following steps.

    1) Make sure CD-Rom is first Boot Device in your Bios

    2) Insert your Windows 2000 CD

    3) Once this is done boot up using CD-Rom Drive.

    ( If your Hard drive is not setup then this is automatic, if not you will see "Hit any Key to Boot From CD-Rom" on the screen, hit any key on keyboard to invoke CD-Rom boot) 

  • The "Setup is starting Windows" screen will now appear and Windows 2000 will load in device drivers.
  • Soon you will see the "Welcome to Setup" menu. Hit enter to set up Windows 2000 .
  • The License Agreement will now appear, Read it and press "F8" if you agree or "ESC" if you don't.
  • The "Partition" screen will appear asking where you would like to install 2000, hit enter on the unpartitioned space to continue, if you wish you could set up partitions now. Otherwise hit enter.
  • The "Format" screen will now appear. Select how you wish to format the drive, for the normal user who doesn't need much security we would recommend FAT. Hit enter to continue.
  • You are now asked to confirm this decision. Hit enter to continue or "ESC" to return to previous menu.
  • Windows will start formating your drive, if your Hard Drive is large then go get a cup of tea or have a drink to pass the time.
  • Once Formated your system will reboot.
  • Once rebooted the "Setup Wizard" will appear, Click on next to continue.
  • Windows 2000 setup will search and detect devices, this will take a few minutes.
  • Now the Regional settings menu will appear, Customize to your own locale. Click on next when finished
  • Now put in your preferred name and organization, click next when finished.
  • Now windows will ask for your 25 character product key (certificate of authenticity), enter and click on next.
  • Now for the Admin Password, Leave blank for the moment, this can be configured once you are in windows. Click on next to continue.
  • Now set the time and date, plus your time zone, once set click on next.
  • Windows 2000 will now detect and install network settings.
  • Now Network setup, just leave at typical and click next, this can be configured once in windows.
  • You will now be prompted for custom or express setup. Just hit enter for Express
  • Windows will start installing components
  • And then perform it's final tasks
  • Setup Wizard is now complete, click on finish.
  • Windows 2000 will now restart..
  • Network Identification wizard will appear, click on next.
  • Leave defaults (can be configured once in windows) click next.
  • Now that's completed click on finish.
  • As we never used an Administrator password windows will load directly up...
  • Apply your personal settings.
  • And arrive at the desktop, you can now start configuring for personal use in the control panel
